Meeting of representatives of the Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania and the Lithuanian Defense Industry

This year november 16 a meeting was held with representatives of the Lithuanian defense industry in the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania.
During the event, KAM Vice Minister Giedrius Jeglinskas presented a reform of the National Defense System acquisition, the main objective of which was to strengthen the capacity of the LAS to ensure the effective implementation of the soldier’s needs through priority-based investments, a clear organizational structure, strategic planning and transparent management. 
At the same time, the vice minister presented in 2018. the Defense Resources Agency, which should become responsible for all acquisitions of the National Defense System (about 95%, except for low value) in the long run.
In further reports, representatives of the responsible departments – Capacity Planning, Logistics, LK Material Resources – presented development priorities, procurement plans and key projects in the fields of armaments, infrastructure and material provision.                                                                                                                 
Representatives of the Ministry of Industry were invited to become more interested in the industry and to participate in announced and planned competitions not only in Lithuania, but also through competitions organized by NATO Support and Purchasing Agency NSPA in foreign countries. Aivars Knieza, director of the Export Department of Public Enterprise Versli Lietuva, emphasized the importance of the NATO Support and Purchasing Agency. The speaker pointed out the possibilities for cooperation in the field of defense and planned activities of Public Enterprise Versli Lietuva aimed at increasing the reputation of Lithuanian companies abroad, especially through the NSPA agency, international exhibitions and other events.                                                                               At the end of the meeting, representatives of the KAM departments responded to the issues of the defense industry.
